Is the story Grandfather Catfish in Chapter 18 of The Summer Kitchen original or a traditional Native American story. I'd love to read it to my class of kids, but I'd like to tell them the background.

This is the first book I've read of yours, and I loved it. I am already making a list of your other books I want to read.

Hello Marissa,

I'm so happy to have you for a new reader. Teachers and librarians are special favorites of mine. This summer I spoke at a state conference of Delta Kappa Gamma and so enjoyed telling about my special teachers and meeting so many wonderful educators.

I'll send an e-mail about the catfish story.
Lisa

I finished Beyond Summer a week ago and the characters are living in my heart. I think now and then of Tam, Shasta, Dell, Sesay. I feel like they are friends and I'm hoping to see them soon. Lisa, you have such a talent and you have written a wonderful book -- well lots of wonderful books. Keep using your gift to give us books with enduring characters and issues that speak to us. Bless you for inspiring me, as always...

Stacy, Thanks for visiting the guestbook. So sweet of you to say that the characters are "living in my heart". A beautiful phrase. I'm so blessed to be able to spend my days with my characters and writing for special fans like you.

Blessings and happy reading to you...
Lisa

I grabbed Texas Cooking and Lone Star Cafe as I dashed through our public library. I couldn't put them down....luckily I'm retired and didn't have to. I read till the wee hours in order to finish and now I'm hooked!!! I'm trying to find them to purchase...please keep writing about Texas and her history.

What a joy to find a new favorite author! I just finished The Summer Kitchen and will hurry to read A Month of Summer before Beyond Summer in early July. Your characters are so real they just jump off the page. I hated for the book to end. I'm amazed at the variety of issues you addressed in The Summer Kitchen. Runaway teens, a stale, middleaged marriage, hunger right here in America, substance abuse, physical abuse, urban renewal, community, aging, and more. There is plenty of meat to inspire, a great story, and a satisfying ending. Keep writing! It's a good thing I heard you speak recently and discovered your books. I'm sharing The Summer Kitchen with my sister and telling my friends about you. I looked at all your books and read first chapters on the website. I'll be reading the Tending Roses series next-- after Beyond Summer. I have a lot of good reading ahead of me. What a joy!

That makes my day -- hearing from a new reader. It has been exciting getting into new issues to write about and a whole different kind of setting. My husband's brother lives in that area of Dallas so we have visited there and seen what happens as the developers move in and the long-time residents are displaced. I am happy that my publisher wants to continue the series with a fourth book, so I'm hard at work on that one. You can watch the website for a preview of Dandelion Summer in a few months. Thanks for visiting my website and for writing, new fan!

I second the idea that Lisa Wingate books make good gifts. They are clean, uplifting, and I can depend on a happy ending. What's the sense of leaving a reader down in the dumps? I have given them for birthdays, to sick girlfriends, and Christmas gifts. Once, I took Over the Moon at the Big Lizard Diner along on a road trip and read it aloud to two girlfriends. But, I never thought of giving them to a man. Good idea, Anna.
I read Never Say Never when it first came out and loved it.
I notice that a some small Texas town has an American Idol finalist! Who would have thought? Wingate must have been psychic when she wrote Talk of the Town!
I only wish Lisa could write more books each year. I'd sure read them!

Loved Never Say Never, Lisa. Such wonderful characters and so nice to see the town pull together and defeat the old grumps. And, how wonderful to learn that Donetta is finally... well, I won't reveal anything in case others haven't read the book yet. I entered some REVIEWS on some bookseller sites. I figure to encourage you any way I can. I just wish you could write faster. I look forward to each book so. Of course, I have to wait a little to get the large print. I often give your books as gifts, by the way. I find that guys love Tending Roses and also Texas Cooking, which has some LOL humor. The best news is that after the long wait, we'll finally learn more about Dell and Jess in July when Beyond Summer comes out! Exciting! Keep blessing us with your great books...

Hi again, Anna. Love hearing from a long-time reader and I'm so glad you liked Never Say Never. I'm doing edits right now for Larkspur Cove, which will come out in February through Bethany House. This is a more serious story than NSN, so let me know how you like it. I'm all finished with Beyond Summer and just waiting for it to roll off the presses. I'll send out an email reminder when it is time to look for the book. Thanks for entering the nice reviews. I appreciate the encouragement. Happy reading! Lisa

I finished The Summer Kitchen last week and I'm blown away! The book is awesome because it deals with so many issues that are in my heart also. All that, and the characters are so real that my thoughts keep returning to them and wondering how they are doing. As always, your storytelling talent shines through. I'm no literary critic, but it seems this is your best book yet. Of course, I've thought that before and maybe I"ll think that about the next one also. I have used one of your videos in my bible group meeting and everyone loved it -- can't remember the title just now. Keep on writing my favorite books! Blessings...

Hello,

Thank you new and "old" readers for your guestbook entries. I appreciate you each and every one!

Fans continue to ask about what happens to Dell and Jace. Well, we'll find out in my July release, Beyond Summer. Several characters from A Thousand Voices will make appearances in that book. It is available for preorder on Amazon.com and bookseller everywhere, and will be a Kindle book also.

A new series is slated for Bethany House. These will be more serious in tone than the Daily, Texas series, but still featuring real Texas characters (with the names changed to protect the innocent). February, 2011 is the probable release date for the first of these.

I'm so thankful for your comments here, reviews on sites like Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble, and also for your personal recommendations of my books to friends and book club members. It's amazing how often I hear from a new fan who was given the book by a sister, friend, or club member.

Mainly, I'm writing to let you know that you are invited to join me on Facebook and/or Youtube if you wish. There are several videos you can forward to friends or show in a club meeting or whatever. And, I'm busy planning more of these, so keep watching...

Blessings and happy reading this spring!

I am finishing up the Daily, TX series. I work in a christian bookstore and have recommended the series to many of my regular customers. I can't wait to start the other series. God blessed Lisa Wingate with a great talent.

Carol, thanks so much for suggesting my books. Word of mouth is the best promotion I can get! My family and I love Colorado. We get there mostly for ski vacations, but are trying to work out a summer vacation to fish and enjoy the mountains. Lisa
